About us The Team Trustees & Patron Robert Alexander Stirling I was born in London in 1959 and am married with twin boys, born in 1994. In 1983 I commenced a career in the City of London as a fund manager specialising in the bond markets, managing investments for clients including corporate pension funds and charities. I retired from full-time employment in 2007, but continued to work in finance as a non-executive director. My desire to engage with charities for people with learning disabilities stems from the fact that my son Rory was born with Down's Syndrome, and my retirement in 2007 gave me the chance to do so. I have been a Charity Trustee serving on boards and finance committees since 2007, for the Goldsmiths' Company in London (2007 - 11), Robert Owen Communities in Devon (2010 - 16) and the Downs Syndrome Association in London since 2010. I became a Trustee of Minstead Trust in 2017. Rory is a residential student at Minstead, and is happy and fulfilled as never before. His first words on coming to stay with us are "when am I going back to Minstead?". I very much want to do whatever I can. Otherwise, I split my time between family homes in London and Cornwall, following Chelsea FC and fly fishing.
