In May, 29 of the people Minstead Trust supports went on a supported holiday to Woolacombe. This offered people an affordable holiday with the level of support they require, as well as promoting independence and the opportunity to practice their skills in a different environment.

The group spent five days staying in chalets in the Devon town of Woolacombe. With beautiful views of hills on one side and the beach on the other. The first night saw a group BBQ on the terrace at one of the chalets, it was great fun but no mean feat cooking for 40 people (including support workers) using just three small disposable BBQs!

The days were packed with activities such as crazy golf, swimming, bowling, cinema, visiting the arcades, beach walks and going out for lunches/dinners. The evenings were spent in the clubhouse at the holiday village where everyone had great fun socialising and showing their skills on the dance floor!

Everyone who went had a wonderful time and would love to return again next year.

Jacob said ‘I want to go back and use my bodyboard, it rained a lot so I didn’t use it this time. It was really good fun though’.

Emily said ‘I had a great holiday and really enjoyed the music and dancing in the evenings.’
