Milestone Infrastructure, the lead contractor for the Hampshire Highways service, has recently completed a road safety improvement project at Minstead Lodge, the headquarters of Minstead Trust, a charity that supports adults with learning disabilities from Portsmouth to Poole.
The project, which was designed to improve accessibility and ensure safety for pedestrians, involved installing a new zebra crossing and repairing various sections of the road, was carried out in collaboration with specialist subcontractors Multevo and Wilson & Scott. People who use the vital services and opportunities provided by Minstead Trust will greatly benefit from the enhanced improvements.
Milestone Infrastructure took the lead in coordinating the works, which included repairing block paving and laying new edgings to secure the repaired sections of the road.
Multevo, a trusted subcontractor for Milestone Infrastructure, was responsible for removing damaged sections of asphalt and carrying out carriageway patching. Their expertise in road maintenance was instrumental in restoring access roads in several key locations around the lodge, ensuring a smooth and safe surface for vehicles and pedestrians alike. Wilson & Scott, another valued partner, completed the project by painting the new zebra crossing.
Adam Watts, Communications & Social Value Manager for Milestone Infrastructure said:
‘We’ve been supporting Minstead Trust for five years now, through their Step Up to Work scheme and delivering infrastructure improvements such as this project. We were thrilled when the charity invited us to get involved in improving road safety at Minstead Lodge.
It was a natural step for us to involve specialist subcontractors on this occasion, and we’re very grateful for the support provided by both Multevo and Wilson & Scott. The transformation on site is staggering, we really do hope that pedestrians feel more comfortable when traversing the Lodge from now on.’
Milestone Infrastructure’s involvement with Minstead Trust is part of its broader commitment to social value and community engagement. Over the past five years, Milestone has worked closely with the charity, supporting their Step Up to Work scheme, which helps individuals with learning disabilities gain valuable work experience and skills.
Emma Borbely-Bartis, Day and Community Opportunities Manager at Minstead Trust said:
‘We are so grateful to Milestone Infrastructure for their work on the Lodge drive. Their improvements, including the removal of trip hazards, the addition of a zebra crossing, speed bumps, and signs, have greatly enhanced the safety of the road.
These changes have made it safer for the people we support to access their sessions around the site.
Thanks also to Connor Brown, Senior Instructor, for coming up with the idea and designing the plan with the team.’
