Day Instructor – Preserve making

Hours: Part-Time (15 – 22.5 hrs per week)

Location: Minstead Lodge, New Forest (Outskirts of Totton)

Salary:£20,572.50 per annum (£8,229 – £12,343.50 pro-rata)

Minstead Trust, a leading learning disabilities charity based in the heart of the beautiful New Forest, is offering the opportunity for a Day Instructor specialising in preserve making to join its enthusiastic Day Service team.

About the job:

We are seeking a skilled Day Instructor to plan, organise and develop training sessions for small groups of adults with learning disabilities to gain valuable skills centred on the production of jam, marmalade and chutney for our new social enterprise venture.

Duties include:

• To plan, develop and deliver preserve production themed training sessions to adults with learning disabilities
• To provide a safe working environment, ensuring that a high level of food safety and hygiene standards are promoted and complied with
• To maintain a good working relationship with customers, wholesalers and other internal/external parties, attending off-site meetings when required and making local deliveries
•  To regularly track the progress of the people we support, conducting regular appraisals and setting/reviewing outcomes-focused goals

About you:

• A minimum of 1 year experience in food catering – essential
• A level 2 NVQ in Health & Social Care – desirable or willing to undertake
• Experience of working with adults with learning disabilities – essential
• Willingness to learn and develop new skills for best practice
• Having a calm, sensitive and caring manner
• Ability to organise/manage batch production

Due to the nature of this role, a full, valid driving licence is required.
