Deputy Care Manager

Salary: £27,000 – £28,500 (Depending on experience)

Job Type: Full Time (37.5 hrs per week)

Location: Minstead (Location moving to central Lyndhurst in Summer 2022)

Minstead Trust, a leading learning disabilities charity based in the heart of the beautiful New Forest, is offering the opportunity for a Deputy Manager to join its dedicated Residential Care Team.

Key Responsibilities:

The Deputy Manager will assist the day-to-day operation of the service, deputising for the Registered Manager in their absence and will be responsible for the direct supervision and line management of support staff.

  • To support the operation of the care home, ensuring that the day-to-day operation runs smoothly
  • To directly line manage a team of support staff including bank workers
  • To coach, support and teach support staff to learn new skills, leading by example to demonstrate best practice
  • To provide direct support to individuals to ensure that the overall quality of service delivery can be assessed
  • Liaising with families and local authorities as required
  • To be responsible for rota management for the service
  • To be part of an ‘on-call’ rota and partake in sleep-in duties as required.

Personal Specification:

  • Proven experience of team leading/management within either a Residential Care or Supported Living service
  • Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social care (And willing to undertake the Level 4 or 5)
  • Excellent knowledge of CQC Standards
  • Strong IT skills including the use of Microsoft Office software
  • Experience of working with people with learning disabilities, autism and behaviours that challenge
