Job Coach / Mentor

Location: Minstead Lodge, New Forest

Travel to the New Forest and surrounding areas (in-work travel paid).

Job Type: 22.5 – 37.5hrs per week.

Salary: Up to £21,000 FTE.

Job Description

  • Leading the Step Up for Work Programme in the New Forest and managing a small team of placement mentors (volunteers and staff);
  • identifying people’s goals in relation to work and supported employment;
  • delivering employment training support via one to one mentoring and group workshops;
  • building relationships with social enterprises and employers to develop high quality work experience placements;
  • supporting individuals to gain skills relevant to the workplace.

The outcomes of the support will be individuals who are work-ready and able to apply for and maintain sustained employment.

This position in our Step Up For Work Programme is initially funded for 18 months.

Owing to the nature of this position, any offer of employment with Minstead Trust will be subject to a satisfactory references and check from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

About You

You will be a self-motivated individual who has passion, drive and enthusiasm for making a positive impact for people with learning disabilities. You will have previous experience of work-based programmes as a job coach and experience of coaching or mentoring people to achieve sustained employment. You will be a people person and representing and promoting our charity’s values:

We are looking for the following experience as a minimum:

Essential

  • Experience of work-based programmes, job coach role, coaching or mentoring people to achieve employability skills
  • Understanding of assessment and training tools
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Outstanding presentation, communication, organisational and networking skills
  • Ability to inspire and motivate
  • Empathy with our Vision, Mission and Values

Desirable

  • Awareness of learning disability and other health needs
  • Knowledge of ESA related benefits and associated funding streams
  • Experience of screening, matching and sourcing recruitment opportunities

Part-Time hours would be considered for the right candidate.
