Location: New Forest and surrounding areas (in-work travel paid)

Job Type: Full Time (37.5hrs a week)

Salary: £19,000.00-£22,500.00, depending on experience

Minstead Trust, a leading learning disabilities charity based in the heart of the beautiful New Forest, is offering the opportunity for a Maintenance Operative to join its team.

The Trust is over thirty years old and has grown from humble beginnings to become an organisation of over 100 people delivering care to adults with wide-ranging care needs across three counties.

Working as an Operative within the Maintenance Team you will be expected to carry out a wide variety of maintenance duties in Minstead Trust (Trust) properties and sites. You will be a member of Central Services team, providing support to staff and the people we support as required.

Job Description:

  • To be part of the Maintenance team and to support the Maintenance manager and Facilities Manager in maintaining a variety of building types to a good standard, including (but not restricted to) decorating, woodwork, plumbing and electrics
  • To work as a member of a small team which may include an apprentice with learning difficulties
  • To maintain accurate records of vehicle usage and individual timesheets
  • To drive the Trust minibuses and other Trust vehicles for their local safety checks
  • To work within health and safety guidelines and any relevant organisational policies which affect the area of work
  • To attend training courses when required
  • To carry out manual handling and occasional heavy lifting tasks.

About you:

We are looking for a positive, pleasant and approachable person who is able to demonstrate a patient and empathetic manner in working relationships. We are looking for an honest, reliable individual who has great interpersonal skills and is a good team worker. The successful candidate must have awareness of disabilities and/or experience of working with people with learning disabilities.

Skills:

  • To have good all-round knowledge of building services
  • To understand the importance of working within the requirements of Health and Safety legislation
  • To be able to drive, holding a current, clean and valid driving licence D1 unrestricted or a PCV licence, D1 restricted (car licence obtained prior to 01/01/1997) considered
  • To be computer literate and demonstrate familiarity with business software such as Microsoft Office, or happy to undertake training
  • Be 25+ (for insurance purposes)
  • Be capable of maintaining accurate utilities and vehicle records
  • Paperwork duties including report writing
  • Organisational skills.
