Hours: 37.5 per week including weekdays, evenings and weekends

Location: Based within Portsmouth and the surrounding areas for visits (in-work travel paid)

Salary: £19,402.50 – £20,085.00 equal to £9.95- £10.30 per hour. Sleep in rate of £50 per night!

Minstead Trust, a leading learning disabilities charity based in the heart of the beautiful New Forest, is offering the opportunity for a support worker to join its Team in Portsmouth.

The Trust is over thirty years old and has grown from humble beginnings to become an organisation of over 100 people delivering care to adults with wide-ranging care needs across three counties.

About the job:

The primary role is to support adults with learning disabilities to live whilst assisting them to develop greater independence. Support is dependent on individual abilities and requirements and ranges from 24/7 support in shared homes with 3 – 5 tenants to individuals living by themselves requiring minimum support that may be just a few hours per week.

The Senior Support Worker deputises for the Deputy Manager in their absence. This role also undertakes support work duties on a rota as required and is expected to promote and maintain good channels of communication amongst the team and those we support. Support worker duties include supporting individuals with personal, social and health care needs as well as encouraging and enabling individuals to access and engage in day opportunity services, work experience, employment, education and community opportunities.

About you:

  • We are seeking people who are: responsible, motivated, honest, approachable, good communicators, committed to providing equal opportunities and quality support. A Level 2 NVQ in Health & Social care is also desirable but not essential. A driving licence is preferred but is not essential.
