Full-time position

Location: Portsmouth and surrounding area for employer visits (in-work travel paid)

Salary:£19,402.50 – £20,085.00

Minstead Trust, a leading learning disabilities charity based in the heart of the beautiful New Forest, is offering the opportunity for a support worker to join its Team.
The Trust is over thirty years old and has grown from humble beginnings to become an organisation of over 100 people delivering care to adults with wide-ranging care needs across three counties.

Role Purpose

The primary role will be to plan, deliver and develop outcome based practical and creative activities to groups of adults with learning disabilities.  Planned programmes will include activities based on health, well-being and independence, providing the foundation for increasing service users’ skills and knowledge.

In addition, the role supports service users with their personal, social and health care needs as required whilst enabling them to engage in sessions, discover and develop skills, abilities and interests, make local community connections and achieve greater independence and fulfilment.

Job Description:

  • To mentor support workers within their Zone team
  • To run and deliver sessions – source new ideas and sessions – ensure that support workers can do these sessions
  • Review and monitor the session delivery
  • Monitor individual outcomes within their zones
  • Monitor team member’s outcomes and development
  • Manage the team within the zone – supervisions, workshops etc.
  • To liaise with the Deputy and Head of service
  • Arrange keyworker time in the morning slot – before sessions begin
  • To arrange/manage and support external / independent session providers – for example omega (WEA), movers – identified for a particular zone
  • To work as part of the senior team – to ensure there is communication and link working across the zones.

About you:

We are seeking people who are: responsible, motivated, honest, approachable, good communicators, committed to providing equal opportunities and quality support. In addition, due to our location a driving licence is essential. A Level 3 NVQ in Health & Social care is also desirable.
