Hours: Full-Time (37.5hrs per week) and Part-time (20hrs per week) available

Location: Totton or Minstead. Location dependent on department

Salary: £19,012.50 – £ 19,987.50 (Depending on qualifications) equal to £9.75 per hour

Minstead Trust, a leading learning disabilities charity based in the heart of the beautiful New Forest, is offering the opportunity for a support worker to join its Residential or Supported Living Team.

The Trust is over thirty years old and has grown from humble beginnings to become an organisation of over 100 people delivering care to adults with wide-ranging care needs across three counties.

About the job:

Your primary role will be to provide support to people with their personal, social and health care needs as required. Our staff members make a real difference to individual lives. We support individuals to access a variety of activities from going to the cinema to accessing education at college or engaging in day service opportunities or work based enterprises.

Following guidelines policies and procedures, you will be required to maintain accurate, clear and concise records, support individuals in taking prescribed medication, communicate and engage effectively with all people involved in the people we supports lives and contribute to improving the quality of support provided through working with others.

Duties include:

  • To support individuals to meet their goals and outcomes in health, wellbeing and independence
  • To support people with their individual personal, social and healthcare needs as required
  • To work as part of a team but also to lone work in the community as needed
  • To be a keyworker to allocated individuals
  • Interacting and communicating with the people you support in a way that promotes dignity and respect
  • Supporting individuals with everyday tasks from cooking to personal care as required
  • Working both as part of a team and also lone working with the people we support
  • Working flexible shifts*
  • *Our services provide 24/7 support 365 days a year. The role includes working evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep in shifts on a rota pattern. We can only consider people who will commit to working these types of shifts.

About you:

  • We are seeking people who are: responsible, motivated, honest, approachable, good communicators, committed to providing equal opportunities and quality support. In addition, due to our location a driving licence is preferred but is not essential. A Level 2 NVQ in Health & Social care is also desirable.
