Hours: Full Time (37.5hrs) and Part Time (20 or 16hrs) available!

Location: Based within Portsmouth and the surrounding areas for visits (in-work travel paid)

Salary: £19,500.00 – £10 per hour + night premium – £50 per sleep-in.

Minstead Trust, a leading learning disabilities charity based in the heart of the beautiful New Forest, is offering the opportunity for a support worker to join its team in Portsmouth.

The Trust is over thirty years old and has grown from humble beginnings to become an organisation of over 100 people delivering care to adults with wide-ranging care needs across three counties.

About the job:

Your primary role will be to provide the people with support with personal, social and health care as required. Our staff members make a real difference in individual lives. We support individuals to access a variety of activities from going to the cinema to accessing education at college or engaging in day service opportunities or work-based enterprises.

Following guidelines policies and procedures, you will be required to maintain accurate, clear and concise records, support individuals in taking prescribed medication, communicate and engage effectively with all people involved in service users’ lives and contribute to improving the quality of support provided through working with others.

Duties include:

• Interacting and communicating with the people you support in a way that promotes dignity & respect
• Supporting individuals with everyday tasks from cooking to personal care as required
• Working both as part of a team and also lone working with individuals with learning disabilities
• Working flexible shifts*
  *Our services provide 24/7 support 365 days a year. The role includes working evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-in shifts on a rota pattern. We can only consider people who will commit to working these types of shifts.

About you:

• We are seeking people who are: responsible, motivated, honest, approachable, good communicators, committed to providing equal opportunities and quality support
• A driving licence is preferred but is not essential
• A Level 2 NVQ in Health & Social care is also desirable but not essential.
