Minstead Trust, a leading learning disabilities charity based in the heart of the beautiful New Forest, is offering the opportunity for a support worker to join its Team in Portsmouth.
The Trust is over thirty years old and has grown from humble beginnings to become an organisation of over 100 people delivering care to adults with wide-ranging care needs across three counties.
Your primary role will be to provide the people with support with personal, social and health care as required. Our staff members make a real difference to individual lives. We support individuals to access a variety of activities from going to the cinema to accessing education at college or engaging in day service opportunities or work based enterprises.
Following guidelines policies and procedures, you will be required to maintain accurate, clear and concise records, support individuals in taking prescribed medication, communicate and engage effectively with all people involved in service users’ lives and contribute to improving the quality of support provided through working with others.
*Our services provide 24/7 support 365 days a year. The role includes working evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep in shifts on a rota pattern. We can only consider people who will commit to working these types of shifts.
We are seeking people who are: responsible, motivated, honest, approachable, good communicators, committed to providing equal opportunities and quality support. In addition, due to our location a driving licence is essential. A Level 2 NVQ in Health & Social care is also desirable but not essential.
All staff working for, or on behalf of Minstead Trust, understand their responsibilities in relation to safeguarding adults at risk and know who to escalate concerns to within Minstead Trust.
Please note that due to changes in government rules on the vaccination status for care providers, all applicants need to be fully vaccinated or have received their first COVID-19 vaccine by 16th September and their second does by 11 November for an offer of employment to be made.
