Our innovative Step Up for Work programme for people with learning disabilities, autism and other additional needs is now also in Portsmouth.

The personalised programme began in February 2021 and is helping people with learning disabilities in the city to gain practical work skills and experience. Through workshops and placements, the aim is to enable the scheme’s graduates to become successfully employed.

Social enterprises

If you run or manage a social enterprise within the Portsmouth area and would consider offering someone with learning disabilities the opportunity of a few hours work experience then we would love to hear from you.

We are also able to offer helpful work placement mentoring support to assist individuals whilst on their work experience.

For employers

Could you give someone with learning disabilities a start, helping them to learn the skills they need to get paid work? We are currently looking for local businesses who are able to provide work placement opportunities or employment for individuals on our programme.

If you are interested, or would like to find out more contact info@minsteadtrust.org.uk

About the programme

This initiative is funded by a grant from Solent Supporting Employment Programme which aims to reach and work with individuals facing complex barriers to employment enabling them to move closer towards or into employment. The programme is part funded by the European Social Fund.
