Step up for work Do you want to learn how to make and sell items from recycled wood? Our Step Up for Work programme is a 12 month training programme which costs £20 a week ( 2 days: Weds/Thurs 9am to 4pm) and is available to people with learning disabilities who are self funding their support. You will learn work skills whilst making and selling items from recycled wood. We offer you the opportunity to train in the lovely surroundings of our productive workshop at Minstead Trust, with an experienced Instructor and a friendly team. You will gain the confidence, skills and workplace experience to be able to take the next step on the pathway to employment. You will need: Willingness to learn and work in a team Ability to adapt to the priorities of the workplace To be 18 years or over To make a weekly commitment You do not have to have previous experience in woodwork. We will invite you to an assessment day to make sure that you are ready for this programme. You will have opportunities to develop transferable workplace skills like time management, health and safety, following instructions. Other skills include: Wood work – cutting and preparing wood, marking out, using tools Construction – assembling components and researching and designing new products Stock control—counting and recording We will support you to develop your CV and find your next step at the end of the Course.
