Tea Room Manager
Hours: 37.5 hours per week between Monday to Sunday (Weekend Availability Required)
Location: Furzey Tearooms, Furzey Gardens
Salary: £30,000 per annum

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and commercially minded Tea Room Manager to lead the successful operation of our popular Tea Rooms at Furzey Gardens. This is an exciting opportunity to combine hospitality leadership with making a genuine difference through Minstead Trust’s mission of supporting people with neuro-disabilities to develop skills, confidence and independence.
As Tea Room Manager, you’ll be responsible for delivering an outstanding visitor experience, driving commercial performance and leading a passionate team in a unique and rewarding environment.
About the role:
You’ll oversee the day-to-day management of the Tea Rooms, ensuring high standards of food quality, customer service and operational excellence. You will also play a key role in creating meaningful training and vocational opportunities for people supported by Minstead Trust.
This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone who enjoys a varied position spanning hospitality operations, people management, business development and community engagement.

Key responsibilities:
Commercial & Business Performance
- Manage a successful Tea Room operation that generates sustainable income for the charity.
- Identify and implement opportunities for growth and increased revenue.
- Develop seasonal food offers and support special events.
- Build relationships with community groups, corporate partners and local stakeholders.
Customer Experience
- Deliver exceptional customer service and maintain high hospitality standards.
- Promote Furzey Gardens, Minstead Trust and upcoming events to visitors.
- Work closely with the Marketing Team to enhance customer satisfaction and engagement.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and motivate a diverse team of staff, volunteers and trainees.
- Manage recruitment, induction, training and staff development.
- Create an inclusive, positive and supportive working environment.
- Plan staffing rotas to meet seasonal demand and operational requirements.
Catering Operations
- Oversee food preparation, presentation and service standards.
- Manage stock control, minimise waste and maximise profitability.
- Maintain a 5-star food hygiene standard and ensure compliance with food safety legislation.
- Support the development of seasonal menus and new product offerings.
Financial & Compliance Responsibilities
- Monitor budgets, food margins and financial performance.
- Manage cash handling and daily banking procedures.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, health and safety and licensing regulations.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience managing a café, restaurant, catering or food retail operation
- Strong leadership and team management experience
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Financial awareness including budgeting, stock management and food cost control
- Knowledge of food hygiene, health and safety requirements
- Strong organisational and IT skills
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and seasonal demands.
