Financial Controller

Minstead, Near Lyndhurst, New Forest

£60,000 to £65,000 per year DOE

Here at Minstead Trust, we’re focused on removing barriers for people with learning disabilities and autism. We aim to unlock opportunities that enrich lives, encourage independence, and foster well-being all while pushing beyond the realities of the funding landscape. Our group comprises supported living, residential and day services, as well as social enterprises and an inclusive theatrical company.

We have more than doubled our size since the pandemic and we don’t plan on stopping there, as we are fast approaching a turnover of £9-10 million.

Reporting to the CEO, in this newly created role as Financial Controller you’ll be overseeing all financial aspects of the Trust, ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, compliance with relevant regulations, and effective financial management to support Minstead Trust’s mission and objectives. You will be joining an established finance team as well as collaborating with other teams across the Trust.

In this role you will:

  • Oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to Senior Leadership Team
  • Manage cashflow and ensure the Trust’s financial stability
  • Lead on the annual budgeting process
  • Lead on annual fee review process with Local Authorities
  • Ensure compliance with the Charity SORP and ensure statutory accounts are approved and filed on time
  • Manage and develop the finance team, providing guidance and support.

What are we looking for?

  • CCAB recognised qualified accountant (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Proven experience in financial management, budgeting, and reporting
  • Knowledge of charity finance regulations and compliance is desirable
  • Excellent IT and data skills, including advanced Excel
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as impeccable attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to communicate complex financial clearly to non-finance colleagues
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build strong working relationships.
