Keeping busy during lockdown

The beginning of 2021 has not been the positive start that we were all hoping for and like many people around the country, the residents in our supported living houses have found their normal daily routines have changed again.

With the New Forest day opportunities closed, we have had to look at other ways to provide support to many of our individuals. Staff have been allocated to individual houses to provide some community support helping people keep busy, healthy and happy.

Aaran, Emma and Maddy live in one household bubble and have told us how they have been keeping busy over the last few weeks.

Aaran
To keep fit I do football every day. I’m really good at scoring goals. I like to go for long walks. We did 5.5 miles the other day. I try to do 10,000 steps a day. Today I went birdwatching with Russell. I like to listen to music, it helps calm me down. When Lockdown is over I really want to play football for a club and I might be on the TV.

Emma
I like doing yoga with staff. I go for long walks at the weekend with my dog Amber and my Mum. I’ve been doing some art and craft with Moya and playing games and doing puzzles. On my key work days I’ve been cooking healthy meals and doing new recipes. I made some Covid posters that said ‘WASH YOUR HANDS’! I want it all to be back to normal so I don’t have to wear masks, use hand gel and social distance. I want to see my friends and family that I can’t see now.

Maddy
I enjoy doing Joe Wicks workout, it wakes me up in the morning. I like to go for walks around Minstead village. I like doing healthy cooking. I play games and do art with Moya. I don’t like being in lockdown, I want everything to go back to normal. I have lost 4lbs in 2 weeks because I am doing healthy eating and exercise. I want to continue to loose weight until I get to 10 stone. I miss going home.
