Role Description:

Based in the beautiful grounds of Minstead Lodge, our New Forest Day Opportunities provides the perfect environment for people with learning disabilities to feel safe and confident as they engage in a wonderful variety of practical and therapeutic activities.

From woodwork, horticulture, grounds maintenance and animal care through to cycling, music, craft and theatre, all our activities and experiences are carefully designed to offer the chance to develop valuable life skills, to build confidence, to promote greater independence and to support positive health and wellbeing.

We always welcome an extra pair of hands to help support our dedicated staff run a busy timetable of activity sessions. With your time and encouragement, you could help the people we support to actively participate in these activities and to develop their skills, whilst having fun, meeting new people and knowing that you are making a wonderfully positive difference to someone’s life!

Who are we looking for?

Friendly, kind and approachable, this support role requires someone who really enjoys engaging with people and has good communication and interpersonal skills. It would ideally suit someone who is enthusiastic and motivational, yet has the ability to recognise those moments which require patience and calm. Volunteering alongside Minstead Staff, and as part of a small and happy team, reliability and the confidence to use your own initiative is essential, as is the ability to follow instruction when necessary.

No previous experience is needed as we will ensure you are given all the support and training required to carry out your role safely and effectively, and to make sure your volunteering experience is always a positive one!

Availability:

Our New Forest Day Opportunities is open weekdays only, Monday – Friday, with activity sessions running from 10am-1pm and 1pm-3pm. This role could be offered on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis depending on your time and interests. Please get in touch to discuss the latest timetable and activities.
