Jake: Enjoying independence

For National Apprenticeship Week 2024, we spoke to Jake who is about to start an apprenticeship at Lily&Lime in Portsmouth.

1. Why did you want to do an apprenticeship?

Because I would like to get a full-time job and I think this will give me the experience to do that.

2. What steps did you take to get here?

I spoke to Chris and Sophie, told them what I wanted and then I was put on a trial to see how I found being an apprentice.

3. What do you enjoy the most about your apprenticeship?

All of it really, I am excited to take on a role where I have independence and can help others to reach their best.

4. Are there any challenges?

There might be some challenges.

5. What do you hope to achieve after your apprenticeship?

I want to get some paid work.

Sophie Enright, Service and Hospitality Manager at Minstead Trust said,

‘Jake is always excited about what the next thing he can tackle is.

‘He is energetic, bubbly and a right laugh. It’s fantastic to see the dynamic that he creates just by walking into a room and you know he is there.’
