The Artists’ Fairy Door trail.

The 30 original doors thrilled visitors all summer at Furzey Gardens, attracting thousands of visitors to the gardens.

Doors were bid on during September, raising over £3,500 for people with learning disabilities.

The doors featured everything from mermaids to dinosaurs, fairies to space-animals! They were created by our woodwork workshop, beautifully decorated by local artists and hidden around the garden.

The funds raised from the auction and the trail will help support people with learning disabilities to overcome challenges and reach their potential.

The trail also featured five community doors placed with businesses in local New Forest villages.

The doors were at:

  • Rosie Lea House, Brockenhurst
  • Cyclexperience, Brockenhurst
  • Hythe Pier
  • New Forest Heritage Centre, Lyndhurst
  • Hanger Farm Arts Centre, Totton

The four-foot wooden fairy doors around the trail were created by the people we support in the woodwork workshop at Minstead Trust’s day opportunities, and all money raised from the trail will go towards supporting people with learning disabilities that work in Furzey Gardens and beyond.

Artists’ Fairy Doors at Furzey Gardens was kindly supported by Beaumont Water Heaters

The community supporter was Fostering Hampshire Children as part of their #OpenYourDoor campaign.
