The Sarah Siddons Fan Club are famed for their original street theatre on the local history of the Southampton Region. In more recent years they have also turned to making films and the screenings are the collaboration of projects with The United Voices of Africa Association and with Peartree 400. Three short films are being screened

The story of King Lobengula’s ill-fated emissary to Queen Victoria, in his attempt to stem the encroachment of Cecil Rhodes and his mining company into Matabeleland.

Six Characters in Search of a History
The story of six black and mixed-raced residents of Southampton from the middle ages through to the nineteenth century. A portrait gallery comes alive as the sitters tell their personal experience of life in England
The Sad Tale of Richard Parker
A story that changed legal history forever. A tale of cannibalism and redemption. A maritime story that has inspired writers and film-makers for a hundred and fifty years.
There will be a Q&A after the screening, with performers and film-makers, to give more background on turning history into drama.
