Mike’s Story: Sharing skills through volunteering

‘After seeing a presentation on the work of the Trust by another volunteer, I visited Minstead Lodge I was immediately blown away by the work being done and the enthusiasm of all the staff and volunteers. As a retired electrical engineer, I joined the maintenance team, volunteering for two days each week.  Everyone has made me feel incredibly welcome and I enjoy the variety of tasks we undertake across all the many buildings the Trust own. I especially enjoy working with some of the people we support and passing on my knowledge and skills to help them in a small way. The feedback from that is especially rewarding and makes my time spent hugely enjoyable.’
