Celebrating our golden wedding anniversary

My memory is from 2018. My late husband, John and I celebrated our Golden wedding anniversary that year. To celebrate we went on a cruise from Southampton and on the way back home we stopped at Furzey gardens, prolonging our holiday. We first went there in the 1980s when our children were young and were amazed to see how it had changed and improved.

I remember that the children loved the little cottage! We spent a very pleasant time there that morning in May 2018 . We arrived just as it opened so it was lovely to stroll around almost having it to ourselves, reminiscing about the 50 years we had spent together and all that had happened in our lives since.

It will always be a special memory for me especially as John passed away last January. We have been back many times since bringing the family and friends. Not as often as we would like as we live in Swanage, Dorset so it is quite a long drive. I always buy plants and am reminded of the gardens when I am in my own! At the moment there’s a bank of Sedums I got there, about to flower, looking glorious.

I will always remember that special morning spent in the gardens.
